NC Science Festival: NC Piedmont Gold

In collaboration with the North Carolina Science Festival, the High Point Museum presents NC Piedmont Gold. Join us to learn about the science and history of gold mining in North Carolina. Gold was first discovered in NC in 1799, and recovering that gold still continues to this day. We will learn about the science of why gold was found here in NC and the different technologies that have been used to help people isolate it from the ground and integrate it into their lives. We will also learn about the different kinds of rocks and minerals in the area. You can even have a chance to try your hand at gold panning!
