Engineer in Residence Workshop: Filtration Systems

  • When: Saturday, April 7, 2018,  1:00 pm
  • Location: 301 N Tryon St. Charlotte, NC 28202.

Ever wonder what happens to the water you rinse (or flush) down the drain? Build a filter to treat wastewater and learn about the processes that clean the water before returning it to our creeks and streams.

Clean water is becoming more scarce as world populations grow. Now more than ever, it is important to reuse or return as much water as we can back to the environment. Reclaimed or recycled water can be used for irrigation or groundwater recharge, and can even be treated for us to drink!

Kids and families will learn the path water takes from lakes, homes and wastewater treatment facilities, while making and testing their own filters.

Join Discovery Place Science educators and our Engineer in Residence for this hands-on workshop that explores a real-world problem. There is no additional cost for this workshop, but advance registration is required.

Workshops are available in the morning and afternoon. Each session lasts approximately one hour.
