 hakedown hike. We'll cover backpacking fundamentals and share tips and tric
 ks from our own experiences. Break in your boots with a hike around the Pre
 serve (approx. 2 miles). Set up your tent or hammock and make sure everythi
 ng is safe and functional in your home away from home. This will be a space
  for trekkers of all skills levels to test their gear before they head off 
 into the greater outdoors. Led by a staff member that through-hiked the App
 alachian Trail (so you know he's got stories to share!)<br />Pre-registrati
 on required by 9/17. Prior to the program, the instructor will email import
 ant information on how to prepare, what to bring, etc. This program takes p
 lace both in the nature center and on the nature preserve trails. This hike
  qualifies for the 100 Mile Hike Club; expect to travel 2 miles on both pav
 ed and natural surface trails with easy to moderate terrain.<br /><br /><br
