  special event at the David B. Waymer Recreation Center on Monday, Jan. 19,
  2026, from 3 p.m. to 5 p.m.<br />Beginning promptly at 3 p.m. the program 
 will feature light refreshments and a mobile museum of displays to explore.
  Guests will enjoy local speakers and performers to commemorate Dr. King’s 
 legacy at 4 p.m.<br />This year's display provided by Thankful Heritage Mus
 eum will consist of approximately 400 African American artifacts and civil 
 rights era memorabilia; specifically, Dr. Martin Luther King Jr content con
 sisting of newspapers, magazines, books, pens, plaques, albums and biograph
 ies.<br />This event is expected to be a cross-generational experience. For
  elders, it will offer a nostalgic walk through history. For younger visito
 rs, it presents a meaningful opportunity to connect with the stories their 
 parents, grandparents, and educators have shared.<br />Come celebrate, lear
 n, and reflect on the rich heritage and ongoing impact of the Civil Rights 
 Movement. This is a unique chance to engage with history and honor the lega
 cy of Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. We look forward to seeing you there!
