LOCATION:Charlotte Museum of History - 3500 Shamrock Drive
DESCRIPTION;ENCODING=QUOTED-PRINTABLE:Homeschool Day is back at the Charlotte Museum of History! Join us for a sp
ecial day designed just for homeschool families, with hands-on activities,
crafts, and interactive experiences that bring Charlotte’s history to life.
\n\nThroughout the historic homesite, families can explore a variety of act
ivity tables created especially for students in grades 3–6. Young historian
s can try their hand at:\n\n- Textile production by making a mini loom and
learning how to weave\n\n- Water filtration at the historic Springhouse by
building a filter using natural materials\n\n- Quill and ink writing and di
scover how important documents in our nation’s history were created\n\n- Pr
inting and the printing press by making a stamp and creating a print of the
ir own\n\n- Revolutionary War spy communication by writing with invisible i
nk and decoding messages using the Culper Spy Ring Code\n\n- …and more!\n\n
Families will also have the opportunity to explore our newest exhibit, The
American Revolution: The Augmented Exhibition, an immersive and interactive
experience that uses HistoPads to bring Revolutionary War stories to life
through augmented reality. This exhibit is especially great for middle and
high school students, but younger learners will enjoy it too. To help stude
nts engage at their own level, we’ll have companion activity booklets for e
lementary, middle, and high school ages available while they explore.\n\nWh
ether your students love hands-on learning, local history, or interactive t
echnology, Homeschool Day offers something for the whole family!
