SUMMARY:OceanXperience Exhibition
LOCATION:Discovery Place Science
DESCRIPTION;ENCODING=QUOTED-PRINTABLE:This is a full-scale interactive exhibition experience, here for a limited
time and included in Museum admission. \n\nStep into the world of deep-sea
exploration onboard an interactive replica of OceanXplorer—the world’s most
advanced research and filmmaking vessel. Navigate the ship or choose an oc
ean mission focused on humpback whales, orcas or great hammerhead sharks.
\n\nHumpback Whales – study how humpback whales use their habitat to commun
icate. \n\nOrcas – study orca group dynamics and how they share their habit
at with other species. \n \nGreat Hammerhead Sharks – study the Bahamian wa
ters to determine why they are a hot spot for great hammerhead sharks. \n\n
As you explore the OceanXplorer vessel and engage in hands-on STEM-based re
search tasks, your journey is tracked and enhanced with RFID technology. Yo
ur adventure culminates in an interactive facilitated HoloLab experience an
d powerful cinematic scenes in the 360-degree immersive area. \n\nExhibitio
n Areas + Highlights \n\nOceanXperience recreates rooms on the OceanXplorer
vessel to give visitors a sense of being a real ocean scientist onboard. F
illed with soundscapes, tactile experiences and visually dynamic media, the
exhibition is sure to engage all senses. \n\nMission Control – ROV station
s, mapping table, sonar stations\n\nBridge – pilot stations, mapping table,
immersive lookout windows, captain’s switch board, tagging station \n\nWet
Lab – hologram station, mahi-mahi model dissection, coral samples, living
rock display \n\nDry Lab – genetic sequencer, data collection tools, projec
tion microscope \n\nSub Hangar – Triton submersible replica, engineering in
teractives, submersible stations, porthole lookout windows \n\nHoloLab and
Immersive Area – mission debrief interactive touchscreens, 360-degree immer
sive footage and environmental soundscapes \n\nOceanXperience is a travelin
g exhibition produced and toured internationally by Flying Fish, based on t
he National Geographic series OceanXplorers, produced by BBC Studios Natura
l History Unit and OceanX in association with Lightship Earth Productions.
