Graveyard Fields Hike & Waterfalls

Graveyard Fields Hike & Waterfalls

Graveyard Fields is the name of a flat mountain valley in the Blue Ridge Mountains of western North Carolina. The valley, itself over 5,000 feet in elevation, is surrounded by mountains exceeding 6,000 feet in elevation, such as Black Balsam Knob, Tennent Mountain, and Sam Knob.

This area is known for blooming rhododendrons in the spring, which I imagine were pretty spectacular. The trail down to the falls starts through a tunnel of rhododendrons – after the sign that says the area has high bear activity.

The hike has two beautiful waterfalls. The lower fall is very pretty and you and your family will be able to swim. This gorgeous waterfall and swimming hole, that is accessible by a short and moderate .3 mile hike down to the falls.
