Story Explorers: Birthdays Around the World

Explore books and stories in creative ways through activities including math, science, games, and more! Did you know that children around the world celebrate birthdays very differently than we do in America? In this Día-themed Story Explorers program, we will read portions of the book Birthdays Around the World by Margriet Ruurs and learn about how children in countries all across the globe celebrate their birthdays with local traditions (and those who dont celebrate birthdays at all)! In Belgium, you get woken up by clanging pots and pans. In India, you give thanks to Hindu gods and bring sweets for your classmates. In Latvia, you are raised in a birthday chair once for each year. Come learn the fascinating birthday traditions of our big, wonderful world, and then stay for a slice of birthday cake!
