Fire Up Behind the Scenes at N.C. Transportation Museum

  • When: Friday, September 21, 2018,  7:00 am -  5:00 pm
  • Location: N.C. Transportation Museum 1 Samuel Spencer Drive, Spencer, North Carolina 28159.

Get up-close and personal with the Norfolk & Western Class J #611 during the locomotive's fire-up process. The day starts with a light breakfast and safety briefing. Exclusive access to the locomotive includes explanations from the crew as they do their work, time in the cab, and up-close photography. Boots or closed-toed shoes are required. It takes a full day for the locomotive to be fired up, so expect down time to explore the NCTM site (admission included.) Not recommended for small children. Locomotive is stationary during fire-up. In cooperation with the Virginia Museum of Transportation, owner of the N&W 611. Check in at Will Call booth outside the Gift Station. **RAIN OR SHINE. NO REFUNDS OR EXCHANGES**
