Matthews Community Center. Emilie Nelson has been a Wildlife Rehabilitator for 15 years in Uptown Charlotte. Almost 3 years ago, she and her husband, Ryan, moved to Lincolnton to start NC Wildlife Rehab (NCWR) in a location that would give released wildlife the best chance of survival. Emilie and NCWR's volunteers dedicate their time, money, love and experience both night and day to save as many animals as humanly possible. Last year over 1,200 squirrels, possums, chipmunks, beavers and woodchucks, to name a few, found their way through the doors of NC Wildlife Rescue, which is located in their basement. Come hear Emilie talk about the animals she rescues and what to do if you find an injured or orphaned animal. NCWR, like all Rehabilitators in NC, does not receive state or government funding- they depend solely on donations from the public. Please follow NC Wildlife Rehab on Facebook to learn more. Their Facebook page is a great tool to teach children about wildlife and follow animals in their care, we need to begin to teach respect at a young age.
