Book Signing with Tammie Jo Shults

  • When: Saturday, November 16, 2019,  1:00 pm -  2:30 pm
  • Location: The Billy Graham Library, Charlotte NC.
  • Cost: Free

The Billy Graham Library is thrilled to welcome Tammie Jo Shults, Southwest Airlines captain and formal naval aviator, for a book signing on Saturday, November 16. Shults received wide acclaim when, on April 17, 2018, she and her crew successfully landed a Boeing 737 after catastrophic engine failure and rapid decompression, saving the lives of 148 people. She will be signing copies of her book, Nerves of Steel.

Shults’s early interest in flying led her to become one of the first female F/A-18 Hornet pilots in the United States Navy after overcoming several obstacles due to her gender. At the conclusion of her Navy career, Shults became a pilot for Southwest Airlines. Her incredible talent and notable history have made her an inspiration to many. Her first book tells the story of how she followed her dreams, earned her wings, and faced her greatest challenge.

Books will be available for purchase in Ruth’s Attic bookstore, or you may bring your own. Limit of two signed items per person. (One item must be Nerves of Steel.)

This is a free event and no pre-registration is required. For more information, please call 704-401-3200 or email This email address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it..
