Tattoos have a long and culturally-rich history throughout the world. Participants in this workshop will explore primitive tattoos worldwide, from the oldest tattoos found on the Ötzi the Iceman to the Coastal Indians of North Carolina. Participants will discuss different styles and motifs; make primitive tattooing tools, inks, and pigments; and practice tattooing on non-human skin.
All workshop participants are asked to bring the following:
• Personal Protective Equipment (protective eyewear, mask, gloves, etc.)
• Sharp pocketknife or sheath knife
• Notebook
• Pen/Pencil
