The Great Annual Cardboard Box Derby

For over 30 years, Beech Mountain Resort has hosted the annual Great Cardboard Box Derby, and this year in celebration of our 50th anniversary we are bringing it back! The competition is sure to be fierce. Historically this event generates a day of creativity, laughter, thrills, and the prospect of winning prizes. Prizes will be awarded and contestants will be judged on a combined score of design originality, best looking, and fastest race time. For each category mentioned a 1st, 2nd, and 3rd place prize will also be awarded. For those not participating in the creative pursuit of “Top Cardboard” contestant, don’t panic – the competition is certain to offer an abundance of fun, entertainment, and good-heated rivalry. Each car must be sponsored by a business or organization.
This year’s event takes place Sunday January 28th, 2018. Registration cost is $25 per entry per group. All “pilots” must be 18 years or older for the race portion of the competition. Visual judging for originality and creativity will take place on the deck of the Lodge at 12pm and the race begins at 2pm on Freestyle. Awards and “Top Cardboard” contestant bestowment will be announced in the Lodge shortly following the conclusion of the race.
