OMB also celebrates Captain Jack every May 20th (or Mec Dec Day). We wrap our bottles of Captain Jack in special edition labels, we have Captain Jack and colonial impersonators visit OMB, we team up with the May 20th Society for a Colonial Beer Dinner, we ride bikes around Charlotte to various historical locations relevant to Captain James Jack, and we drink lots and lots of steins filled to the brim with this delightful brew. Join us! It’s sure to be a great day as a percentage of all proceeds benefit the USO of North Carolina!
When news of the massacre at the Battles of Lexington and Concord reached “Charlottetowne” (Charlotte, NC), patriots and townsfolk met on May 20th, 1775 to draft the Mecklenburg Declaration of Independence. On May 31st, they met again to draft a set of Resolves that outlined how they would self-govern. These documents declared that the actions of King George III were intolerable and that Mecklenburg County was no longer under British rule.
This is a free event. Under 21 are welcome at OMB. Pets are welcome outside in our Biergarten.
