Homeschool Rally Junior Edition: Geodes, Stone Soup and Rock Painting

  • When: Wednesday, March 6, 2019, 11:00 am -  1:00 pm
  • Location: 300 East Seventh Street Charlotte, NC 28202.

Homeschooled children ages 5-11 will explore STEAM activities. This month, school aged kids and tweens will read books, play games and do activities themed around geodes, stones, and rocks! From 11:00-12:00 we will be talking about Geodes. What is a Geode? How do you know if you have a Geode? We are going to find out the answers to these questions with hands on research with real Geodes! From 12:00-1:00, we will read the book Stone Soup by Heather Forest and discuss the value and importance of generosity. Then we will participate in the Kindness Rocks initiative (http://thekindnessrocksproject.com/one) by painting bright, positive messages of love and caring onto handheld stones that you can then hide around Charlotte for strangers to find and brighten their day. The goal of this program is to inspire others through random acts of kindness. LetÂ’s share kindness with those around us! These back-to-back programs will have a (very) slight break in between, so please feel free to bring a snack; you are welcome to join for just one program or stay for both. This year we are requiring registration and capping at 50, so sign up now!
