UNC Charlotte Botanical Gardens Staff will be leading games and crafts.
Fly-trap feedings will occur at 11am, 11:30am, 12pm, and 12:30pm.
Face painting will be provided.
At additional cost:
Carnivorous plants for sale (open to the public).
Create a Miniature Bog Garden workshop: 11:30 – 1:00 pm; $50 (includes all materials and carnival admission). Limit 15 people. Director Emeritus Dr. Larry Mellichamp will lead a workshop to create a 14″ miniature bog garden including 5-6 plants, including at least 3 carnivorous plants. Students will learn to care for their gardens to insure the plants’ success.
Suggested ages: 4 – 12 years old.
Learn about insect-eating plants and have a blast! This is a family event with games, crafts, hands-on displays, fly-trap feedings, face painting and more.
Included in admission:Ben Gregory, Entomology PhD, will be investigating and identifying the pitcher plants’ successful “catches” by dissecting pitchers with kids.
