Man on the Moon Anniversary at Discovery Place Nature

Join us at Discovery Place Nature to celebrate the 50th anniversary of the Apollo landing and man’s first steps on the Moon! We will be exploring space science and our Moon with fun programs all morning. Watch the actual landing footage, test your skills in the Lunar Landing Challenge and see if you have what it takes to be an astronaut.

Activities include:

-10:00 a.m. - Blast Off: Join us in the planetarium to learn more about the moon in this exciting show!
-10:45 a.m. - Apollo 11 Landing Footage: Watch the actual landing footage from the Apollo 11 mission! Start off the celebration and get excited for all of the fun programs to come.
-11:30 a.m. - Lunar Landing Challenge: Now that you’ve seen the real landing footage, it’s time to put your skills to the test and see if you can safely land a shuttle on the Moon. Good luck!
-Space Shelter: What kind of home would you live in on the Moon? How would you build it? Help us create our very own Moon home in Fort Wild! (Ongoing)
-Astronaut Training Course: Do you think you have what it takes to be an astronaut? Astronauts have to be in tip-top shape to maneuver around in outer space. Try out our training course and see if you may be astronaut material! (Ongoing)
-Tremendous Telescopes: Make your very own telescope so you can look to the sky at home! (Ongoing)
