Great Backyard Bird Count: family event at Wing Haven

  • When: Sunday, February 16, 2020,  8:00 am -  1:00 pm
  • Location: Wing Haven Garden And Bird Sanctuary 248 Ridgewood Avenue, Charlotte, North Carolina 28209
  • Cost: Garden admission is FREE during this event.

Every bird counts! It’s time for the Great Backyard Bird Count (GBBC), a joint project of the Cornell Lab of Ornithology and the National Audubon Society. Quietly stroll through the gardens or find a spot to sit and watch, counting birds and recording what you observe, which helps scientists in their study of birds. Volunteers from Wing Haven, as well as the Mecklenburg Audubon Society, will be on hand providing guided walks, sharing educational information, and enjoying the count alongside you or your group.

New this year is “Breakfast with the Birds!” Just as the Clarksons dined in the garden in the morning to really get up close and personal with the birds, we will provide light breakfast foods for you to enjoy and refuel as you stroll and count. Refreshments will include breakfast breads/muffins, bagels with cream cheese, and fresh fruit. Coffee, hot chocolate, and water will be served, too.

Recommended for everyone - children and adults, from bird novices to bird experts!
