  • When: Saturday, February 22, 2020,  8:00 am - 11:00 am
  • Location: Blackfinn Ballantyne 14825 Ballantyne Village Way Charlotte NC 28277

This event was created in memory of Dave Anstadt. Unfortunately, it is now also in memory of my brother-in-law, John Bradley, who lost his fight to pancreatic cancer in 2014. Both are sorely missed. The Pancakes for a Purpose event has been created to raise money for Pancreatic Cancer research. All proceeds will be donated to The Lustgarten Foundation where they work tirelessly on Pancreatic Cancer Research. Thanks to private funding, 100% of every dollar donated goes directly to pancreatic cancer resear

The American Cancer Society’s estimates for pancreatic cancer in the United States for 2020 are:

About 57,600 people (30,400 men and 27,200 women) will be diagnosed with pancreatic cancer.
About 47,050 people (24,640 men and 22,410 women) will die of pancreatic cancer.
Pancreatic cancer accounts for about 3% of all cancers in the US and about 7% of all cancer deaths.

There are a number of reasons why pancreatic cancer is so deadly. No early screening tests are available, as there are for colorectal, breast and many other cancers. Often there are no symptoms or signs of pancreatic cancer until the disease has progressed. The few symptoms that are common with pancreatic cancer are vague – fatigue, digestive distress and back pain – and they're all easily attributed to other causes. And this particular cancer is resistant to current chemotherapy agents. With research, there is hope: research offers hope for an early detection test, more effective long-term treatments and, ultimately, a cure.
