Charlotte Junior Soccer Foundation, Inc., founded in 1974, offers recreational soccer programs for children in grades JK to 12th. The recreational program consists of fall and spring seasons.
Our main purpose is to introduce and educate children so they have a lifelong love of the game of soccer. Our volunteer Division Coordinators put teams together, taking into account requests to play with friends and practice day availability. We try to place one buddy per player on each team whenever possible. Team creation and player placement is totally dependent on parents volunteering to coach. We offer free coaching clinics and coaching manuals for all our parent volunteers every season, directed by our excellent Coaching Director Bryan Mogford. He is also available to run individual practices upon requests.
In 1994, Charlotte Junior Soccer Foundation, Inc. entered into a unique public/private cooperative venture with the Parks and Recreation Department of Mecklenburg County to provide funding to assist with the preparation and improvement of designated fields in exchange for priority use. Our financial support to the county has funded the lighting and complete redesign and layout of the fields at Pearl Street, Independence, Latta/Dilworth School, Randolph Road, and Freedom Park. CJSF completed two capital improvement projects: the retaining wall at Randolph Road Park and the extension of the fence beside the field at Mason Wallace Park. CJ capital improvement project added the new parking lot to Alexander Street Park, used by our U5s as well as our U14s, U16s, and U19s. Current projects include adding irrigation to EB Moore Park and major turf repair of Independence Park.
