Town of Matthews Independence Day Celebration

Join the Town of Matthews for an exciting Independence Day celebration on Thursday, July 3, 2025, from 5:00–8:30 p.m. at Stumptown Park (120 S Trade Street, Matthews, NC).
Enjoy live music by Too Much Sylvia from 6:00–8:30 p.m., along with bounce houses, food vendors serving hamburgers, hot dogs, and ice cream, craft beer, and more. Festivities also include an Uncle Sam stiltwalker, balloon twisting, glitter tattoos, and other fun surprises.
Admission is free. Food, drinks, and some activities are available for purchase.
Fireworks Spectacular
Stick around for the grand fireworks show later that evening at 9:30 p.m., held at the Matthews SportsPlex (2425 Sports Parkway, Matthews, NC). This event is also free and open to the public.
Important Parking Info:
Enter the SportsPlex via Brigman Road. Staff will direct parking in the following order: stadium area (left to right), then Area A (fields 1–4), followed by adjacent grass lots.
Watch from your parking spot and help us keep the venue clean—please take your trash with you. The SportsPlex is generously hosting this event and has activities scheduled the next day, so let’s leave it looking great. Trash cans and staff will be on-site, but your help is appreciated: Pack it in, pack it out!
