Celebrate Valentine’s Day with Past & Play, our hands-on history program designed especially for our littlest learners! Through play, crafts, stories, and sensory exploration, children ages 0–4 and their caregivers will discover that love isn’t just about valentines—it’s about friendship, family, community, and all the people who care for us.
This Valentine’s-themed Past & Play invites families to explore how people in the past and present have shown love and connection, while building fine motor skills, social interaction, and a love of learning in a welcoming, low-pressure environment. All activities are included in museum admission and will be offered throughout the day for families to come and go as they please.
Activities include:
Sensory Play - Explore red, pink, and white textures inspired by Valentine’s Day.
Handprint Heart Craft - Create a Valentine’s Day handprint keepsake.
Book Nook - Curl up in our cozy Book Nook, featuring board books and picture books that explore friendship, kindness, family in all its forms, neighbors, community helpers, and caring for others.
Soft Hearts Sorting - Explore, stack, line up, and sort soft heart shapes.
Valentine’s Salt Dough Ornaments - Roll, mash, stamp, and decorate salt dough ornaments in valentines day shapes and colors (Dough ingredients: All-purpose flour, salt, and water)
