Steven Coakley was a fire fighter who was killed on 9/11 when the towers came down — one of 343 firefighters who sacrificed their lives during that tragedy.

Every year, the foundation places 2,977 American flags in Romare Bearden Park, 300 Church Street, Charlotte, North Carolina — one for each person who died during the attacks.
