Summer Break™ program (Mecklenburg Library)

Welcome to Summer Reading 2026! From June 1 to August 15, Blast off on an unforgettable reading adventure that spans galaxies of imagination, discovery, and creativity. Explore Space, science, and stories beyond the stars – every book is a new world waiting for you.

Children and teens (ages 0-18) are welcome to participate and receive prizes from our sponsors at signup, as well as at 25, 50, and 75-day milestones. Visit your local branch to pick up your prize, while supplies last.

You can read anything you like for any length of time. We just want you to read! You can read to yourself, to someone else or have someone read to you. Just a sampling of what you can read includes books, magazines, newspapers, websites, email, comics, blogs or listen to audiobooks.

Incentives
Sign up to earn a Wendy’s Junior Frosty coupon. Then, earn a trip to the Summer Reading Treasure Box after reading for 15, 30, 45, and 60 days! Visit your local library to collect incentives and check out more books. All prizes are while supplies last.

Experience Drawings
Children and teens (age 5 to 18) who read for 45 days will be entered into special experience drawings. Winners will be notified by email.
