“TransylVending Machine” for contactless trick or treating

  • When: Sunday, November 1, 2020, 12:00 am - 11:00 pm
  • Location: South Park, Charlotte NC.

How do kids trick or treat safely this year? It’s a question that many people are asking.

The Meade family in South Park has used their considerable engineering and artistic skills, as well as their creativity and many hours of labor, to create the TransylVending Machine, a huge, contact-free Frankenstein-themed candy dispensary.
This candy dispenser, which is the size of a small room, is curbside in their front yard. It’s completely unique and will be a Halloween highlight if you visit. It has to be seen to be believed.

The TransylVending machine essentially works like this: When you get there, you’ll see a phone number to text.

After you text, you’ll be asked to text the four digit code that you see on a screen in the TransylVending Machine (to make sure that people aren’t texting remotely) and then the number of candy bars that you want (up to four.)
The dispensary will then deliver the requisite number of candy bars, which you can collect from a bowl. It’s not just about getting the candy, though. It’s a show. So it takes a couple minutes.
Once the transaction is finished, the machine self-sanitizes for the next customer.
