Fall is one of our favorite times of the year! It's a great time to go outdoors and enjoy the beautiful weather and colors with your kids. ( This year we ask  to do your part and stay six feet apart. Also, Mask Up)

Fun 4 Charlotte Kids has created a CHARLOTTE FALL BUCKET LIST for you to use to plan fun fall things to do with your family around Charlotte and surrounding areas this season. No need to search online for activities – we've done all the work for you!

Charlotte is known for its awesome outdoor activities. It is the perfect city to have a picnic with the family. Try one of these great picnic spots:

Freedom Park: Offers lots of trails, beautiful landscaping with mature trees perfect for a nice and relaxing picnic area.

Reedy Creek: There is SO MUCH to do at this park! In addition to indoor AND outdoor picnic facilities, there is a community garden, a pond, a playground, tons of recreational sports opportunities, and a terrific dog park. It is a MUST DO in the fall season.

And speaking of parks and playgrounds, Fun4CharlotteKids has listings for more than EIGHTY parks and playgrounds around Mecklenburg County where you can the kids can enjoy a picnic and enjoy the fall season.

Pumpkin patches are great place to visit with the whole family to pick the perfect pumpkin. Lots of pumpkin patches offer fun activities like hayrides, corn mazes, petting zoos and so much more… Here are some of our  favorite farms to visit this time a year is:

One of my favorite things to do during this time of the year is wear warm sweaters and escape the city to one of the farms near by, to pick seasonal produce.

Sky Top Orchard is a longer drive; about two hours away from Charlotte but it is so worth it. Visit Sky Top Orchard and you'll enjoy panoramic mountain views, orchard ponds with ducks and geese, a 'barnyard' area with sheep, goats, chickens, turkeys and more, a bamboo forest to explore, lots of picnic areas and, of course, a mountaintop of fragrant apple and fruit trees.

Take an autumn nature walk and enjoy the leaves. Charlotte has so many trees that tons of leaves fall during the autumn season. Grab a rake and make piles and jump in the piles. You can also visit one of Charlotte's Nature Parks and do this. We guarantee that the kids will have a blast no matter what age they are.

Check out our list of nearby nature parks and enjoy.

Like the area pumpkin patches, corn mazes offer lots of additional activities for kids like corn cannons, hay rides, petting zoos, hay bales to play in, and more!

Kids love to get dressed up during Halloween. They will want to wear their costumes more than once. Charlotte offers so many AWESOME Halloween and Trick or Treating Events where your kids will have the chance to wear their costumes over and over again.

Click here see our comprehensive list of Charlotte area Halloween and Trick or Treating events to and choose which Events you and your family will be attending.

We just moved into a Freedom Homes house in Mooresville and are fully unboxed and moved into our new home. The family has cabin fever I think and we are looking to get the kids out for a fun time. The ideas are great but the links to make it that much easier is super appreciated. Thank you for putting this together!
