🚽 Potty Training: What I Wish I Knew Sooner! 🚽

Okay, mamas, let's get real about potty training. 🚽 I've been there, trust me. And if I could go back, I'd have done things so differently. Seriously.

I just read this amazing article from Atrium Health Levine Children's, with tips from Dr. Todd Vedder at Arboretum Pediatrics, and it's like a potty-training bible. He really breaks down how to know when your kid is actually ready, not just when you think they should be.

Dr. Vedder points out that most kids show readiness between 18 months and 3 years, but it's not a race! He highlights key signs like staying dry for longer stretches, waking up dry from naps, and showing genuine interest in the potty. You know, like when they start following you into the bathroom or asking questions about the toilet. 😅

And he stresses the importance of communication. Like, if they can actually tell you they need to go, that's a huge win! He also mentions that being able to pull their pants down and sit still for a few minutes is crucial. And you know what else? Accidents are totally normal! Dr. Vedder says positive reinforcement is way better than getting upset.

One of the best tips he shared was about foot placement! Apparently, having their feet touch the ground, or using a stool, helps them use their muscles better. Who knew?! 🦶
