Johnson C. Smith University in partnership with Beatties Ford Road Regional Library presents a RCLM 37 event, Beat Biography. Beat Biography is an hour and a half workshop pairing the practice of oral history with trap, gospel, and house beat making. This workshop invites teens to tell us their story through music.The RCLM 37 project is an experimental museum project that highlights historic events, people and place within the Beatties Ford Rd. Corridor of Charlotte, NC. This project includes a small exhibition space at Johnson C. Smith University; as well as a documentary and soundtrack led and directed by West Charlotte artists. Featuring a collection of oral history interviews from prominent voices of West Charlottes past, the RCLM 37 project wants to hear from future leaders of this historic community in a two hour workshop on oral history and beatmaking.
